Career

After completing his education, Siddharth apprenticed with ad film maker Jayendra and cinematographer P. C. Sreeram. They helped him join as an assistant director for Mani Ratnam’s Kannathil Muthamittal. During the filming, Siddharth also made an uncredited appearance. Impressed by his work, scriptwriter Sujatha recommended Siddharth to Shankar for an audition in his project Boys. Siddharth landed the lead role of Munna, which marked his debut in Tamil cinema.

Following his success with Boys, Siddharth ventured into Telugu cinema with Prabhu Deva’s Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, where he portrayed the character Santhosh. The film received widespread critical acclaim and established Siddharth as a sought-after actor in Telugu cinema. He then starred in the Telugu film Chukkallo Chandrudu, where he also contributed as a playback singer.

In 2006, Siddharth appeared in the critically acclaimed Hindi film Rang De Basanti, portraying the role of Karan Singhania. The film was a commercial success and earned him nominations for Best Supporting Actor and Best Male Debut. His next Telugu release, Bommarillu, opposite Genelia, also received critical acclaim and emerged as a blockbuster hit.

Siddharth continued to balance his career between Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema. He appeared in various films across different languages, including Rang De Basanti, Bommarillu, and Striker. He also ventured into production with the Tamil romantic comedy Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi, which was well-received by audiences and critics alike.

In 2014, Siddharth starred in the Tamil film Jigarthanda, which earned him critical acclaim and commercial success. He followed it up with Kaaviya Thalaivan, where he portrayed the lead role of Thalaivankottai “Kaali”appa Bhagavathar. The film received unanimous praise for Siddharth’s performance.

After a brief hiatus, Siddharth returned to the screen with Enakkul Oruvan, a Tamil remake of the Kannada film Lucia. Although the film didn’t fare well commercially, Siddharth’s performance was lauded by critics. He then took a break from films before returning with the thriller Aval in 2017, which was well-received by audiences.
