Career

In 1995, Kapoor made his debut in Hindi cinema with the film “Prem,” alongside Tabu. Despite their decent performances, the movie faced delays in production since 1989 and flopped upon release. His next film, “Raja” (1995) with Madhuri Dixit, however, was a success. Following this, he starred in lead roles in films like “Auzaar” (1997), “Mohabbat” (1997), and “Sirf Tum” (1999). Except for “Chhupa Rustam: A Musical Thriller” (2001), most of his lead roles didn’t fare well at the box office.

In 2002, Kapoor shifted to portraying antagonists, receiving acclaim for his role as a psychotic husband in “Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe,” opposite Esha Deol. From 2003 onwards, he began playing supporting roles in films like “Qayamat: City Under Threat” (2003), “Julie” (2004), “Luck By Chance” (2009), and “Shaandaar” (2015). He ventured into production with “Tevar” (2015), starring his nephew Arjun Kapoor, and made a cameo appearance in “Mubarakan” (2017) alongside his brother Anil Kapoor.

In early 2018, Kapoor starred in the anthology film “Lust Stories” opposite Manisha Koirala. The same year, he appeared in “The Zoya Factor” as Sonam Kapoor’s on-screen father and in the Kannada film “Seetharama Kalyana.” In 2020, he featured in the short film “Sleeping Partner” alongside Divya Dutta.

Kapoor’s television career began in 2003 with the serial “Karishma – The Miracles of Destiny” opposite Karisma Kapoor. In 2017, he appeared in Vikram Bhatt’s serial “Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara” with Smriti Kalra. He also had roles in ALTBalaji’s web series “Soggy Hoga Tera Baap” and the TV film “Fashion Street” as Sanjay Thakur. In 2020, he appeared in “The Gone Game” and then in “The Last Hour” in 2021.
