Early Life

Dhar was born in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India, into a Kashmiri Pandit family. She is a professionally trained dancer and has received numerous awards for her dance performances. Her training includes eight years of Bharatanatyam under Vani Ganpathy and four years of Jazz and Contemporary dance under the guidance of Shiamak Davar and Terence Lewis.

Dhar pursued her education at St. Michael’s Convent School, Mankapur, and later attended National Public School, Indiranagar. She completed her graduation from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.

Career

In 2010, Dhar stepped into the world of cinema with her debut role in the Hindi film “Isi Life Mein,” a Rajshri Production, alongside actor Akshay Oberoi. Her performance gained positive reviews, and she earned a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Star Screen, Filmfare, and Stardust Awards. Taran Adarsh commended her acting, stating, “Sandeepa Dhar is another talent that catches your attention.”

Following this, Dhar appeared in “Gollu Aur Pappu,” a film produced by Viacom 18, where she shared the screen with Kunal Roy Kapur and Vir Das from Delhi Belly fame. She inked a three-film agreement with Viacom 18.
