Career
Preetika Rao began her acting career with the Tamil film “Chikku Bukku” in 2010, where she played the lead role of Meenal “Ammu” alongside Arya. She then made her Telugu debut in 2012, portraying Madhu Latha in “Priyudu” opposite Varun Sandesh.
In 2013, Rao transitioned from regional cinema to television, making her debut with the show “Beintehaa.” She starred as Aaliya Ghulam Haider/Aaliya Zain Abdullah opposite Harshad Arora, earning various awards for her performance, including the Gold Award for Best Debut-Female.
From 2015 to 2018, Rao expanded her career in several directions. She made her singing debut in 2015 with the single “Na Tum Humein Jano” and debuted in Kannada cinema with the film “Rebel,” playing the role of Preetika alongside Aditya. In 2016, she participated as a contestant in the “Box Cricket League.”
Rao returned to television in 2017 with “Love Ka Hai Intezaar,” where she portrayed Mohini Mathur Ranawat/Mohini Ayaan Mehta opposite Mohit Sehgal. She also appeared in the short film “Metro Mulaqat” as Priya alongside Yunus Khan. That same year, she released her second single, “Yaad Kiya Dil Ne,” featuring Siddharth Basrur.
In 2018, Rao played Mahima “Mahi” Malhotra in an episode titled “Gudiya” of the series “Laal Ishq,” working alongside Priyank Sharma and Niti Taylor. She also appeared in music videos such as “Surilee” with Shaan in 2017, “Tere Vede” in 2018, and “Tenu Bhul Na Pavagi” in 2018. Since 2019, Preetika Rao has continued to expand her career. She launched her YouTube channel in June 2022, establishing herself as a content creator and producer on the platform.
Rao’s media image has also garnered recognition. She was honored at the Sinema Zetu International Festival in Dar Es Salaam for her immense popularity in Tanzania due to her show “Beintehaa.” In 2014, she was ranked 6th on Rediff’s Top 10 Television Actresses List.
