Early Life

Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan is the oldest son of a person who writes stories for movies, Salim Khan, and his first wife Sushila Charak, who later changed her name to Salma. Abdul was born on 27 December 1965, and his family followed both Muslim and Hindu beliefs.

In 1981, things became difficult between Salman and his father, when Salim married a famous actress named Helen. It took many years for their relationship to get better.

Salman’s great-grandparents on his father’s side are believed to be from Afghanistan and moved to Indore State in British India in the mid-1800s. Some say they were Alakozai Pashtuns, while others think they were from the Akuzai sub-tribe of Yusufzai Pashtuns. Salman’s grandfather, Abdul Rashid Khan, was an important police officer in Indore state.

Salman’s mother is a homemaker, and her father, Baldev Singh Charak, comes from Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir. Salman can speak Marathi, Hindi, and English. He has two brothers, Arbaaz and Sohail, and two sisters, Alvira and an adopted sister Arpita.

Salman went to school in Mumbai, and so did his younger brothers. Before that, he studied at The Scindia School in Gwalior for a few years. He also started college at St. Xavier’s in Mumbai but didn’t finish.

Career

Salman Khan has been acting in movies for many years, playing different roles in various films. He started in 1988 with a supporting role in “Biwi Ho To Aisi.” His big break came in 1989 when he played the lead in “Maine Pyar Kiya,” a popular romantic family drama.

During the early ’90s, Salman appeared in films like “Baaghi” (1990), “Saajan” (1991), and “Karan Arjun” (1995). The latter, where he acted alongside Shah Rukh Khan, got him nominated for the Filmfare Best Actor Award. In the late ’90s, he continued his success with films like “Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!” (1994) alongside Anupam Kher, Dilip Joshi and “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” (1998).

In the early 2000s, Salman starred in movies like “Tere Naam” (2003), earning praise for his powerful performance. He also explored comedy in films like “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi” (2004) and “No Entry” (2005). Salman’s versatility showed in different roles in movies like “Wanted” (2009), “Dabangg” (2010), and “Sultan” (2016).

Salman Khan’s career saw a comeback with hits like “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” (2015) and “Sultan,” establishing his superstardom. In Sultan, he was supported by Anushka Sharma, Amit Sadh, Randeep Hooda, Anjana Om Kashyap, Kubbra Sait, Kabir Khan, Shibani Dandekar amongst others. This success continued with “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017).
