Richa Chadda was born on December 18, 1986, in Amritsar, Punjab, to a Punjabi family. Her dad, Somesh Chadda, is a businessman, and her mom, Kusum Lata Chadda, is a professor. Chadha encouraged other women to share their experiences with eating and mental disorders caused by patriarchy, advocating for a change in the mindset that oppresses women.

Chadha has been in a relationship with Ali Fazal and currently lives in Mumbai. She looks up to B. R. Ambedkar as her icon. On September 23, 2022, Chadha and Fazal announced their upcoming marriage, emphasizing their commitment to an eco-friendly ceremony. The couple tied the knot on October 4, 2022, in a ceremony held in Lucknow.
