Career
Haydon’s acting career began when she was discovered by Anil Kapoor in a coffee shop. Soon after, she received a role in the ensemble romantic comedy-drama Aisha, directed by Rajshree Ojha. The film, loosely based on Jane Austen’s novel Emma, featured Haydon as Aarti Menon, a corporate yuppie and friend of Abhay Deol’s character. To prepare for the role, she spent three months in New York City learning method acting and received diction classes in Mumbai.
In 2014, Haydon gained widespread recognition for her role in the critically acclaimed film Queen, starring Kangana Ranaut. She portrayed Vijayalakshmi, a single mother, and received praise for her performance. Critics lauded her as a “complete revelation” and commended her for investing the character with both sultriness and genuine affection. The film was both a critical and commercial success, earning Haydon a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Following her success in Queen, Haydon appeared in The Shaukeens, a remake of the 1982 film Shaukeen, alongside Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor, and Piyush Mishra. Although the film received positive reviews, it performed averagely at the box office.
In 2016, Haydon starred in Karan Johar’s musical romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Anushka Sharma.
Haydon also ventured into television, serving as the host and head judge of the first cycle of India’s Next Top Model on MTV India. Additionally, she appeared in the web series ‘The Trip’ on the Bindass channel.
