Career
Hema Malini began her acting career with small roles in films like “Pandava Vanavasam” (1965) and “Idhu Sathiyam” (1962). Her big break came in 1968 when she was chosen to play the lead opposite Raj Kapoor in “Sapno Ka Saudagar” and was dubbed as the Dream Girl.
Throughout the 1970s, Malini established herself as a leading actress with roles in films like “Johnny Mera Naam,” “Andaz,” and “Lal Patthar.” Her performance in “Seeta Aur Geeta” (1972), where she played a double role, earned her a Filmfare Best Actress Award.
She shared a successful on-screen chemistry with actors like Dharmendra and Rajesh Khanna. Films like “Sholay” and “Trishul” with Dharmendra, and “Andaz” and “Prem Nagar” with Rajesh Khanna were particularly appreciated.
In the 1980s, Malini continued to star in successful films like “Kranti,” “Naseeb,” and “Satte Pe Satta.” Even after becoming a mother, she took on heroine-centric roles in films such as “Aandhi Toofan” and “Rihaee.”
During this period, she also ventured into production and direction. She produced and directed films like “Dil Aashna Hai” (1992) and “Mohini” (1995). However, she gradually shifted her focus to dancing and television work.
