Early Life

Born on November 23, 1984, in Mumbai. Amruta Khanvilkar hails from a Marathi family. Her parents, Ajit and Gauri Khanvilkar, welcomed her into the world, and she has a younger sister named Aditi, who pursued a career as an air hostess.

Following the 1993 Mumbai attacks, Amruta’s family decided to shift to Pune for safety and stability. During her time in Pune, she attended Karnataka High School and later graduated from Marathwada Mitra Mandal College of Commerce.

Career

Amruta Khanvilkar embarked on her career in 2004, stepping into the world of entertainment as a contestant on Zee Cine Star ki Khoj, one of the first reality shows on Indian television. In the same year, she co-starred in the Hindi short film “Saanjh” alongside Amitabh Bhattacharjee. This film, presented by the Film and Television Institute of India, went on to win the National Film Award for Best Non-Feature Film on Family Welfare.

Her journey continued in 2005 with appearances on Hindi television shows such as A.D.A. and Time Bomb 9/11. In 2006, Khanvilkar made her film debut in the Marathi comedy “Golmaal,” receiving positive reviews for her performance alongside Bharat Jadhav and Jitendra Joshi. In 2012, she was seen in Aditya Sarpotdar’s musical “Satrangi Re” and the musical drama “Aayna Ka Bayna,” where she portrayed a dance therapist. Her outstanding performance in the latter earned her the Best Actress award at the CineRockom International Film Festival.

In 2013, Khanvilkar made a special appearance in the song “Dhoka Dhoka” from the Hindi film “Himmatwala.” In 2015, Amruta Khanvilkar returned to the big screen with five releases after a year’s absence. 2018 marked Khanvilkar’s return to Hindi projects with a significant role in Meghna Gulzar’s “Raazi,” where she played Alia Bhatt’s Pakistani widowed sister-in-law Munira. Her performance received praise from both reviewers and the audience. She also appeared in the action thriller “Satyameva Jayate” alongside Manoj Bajpayee.

The same year, she made her digital debut in the web series “Damaged,” portraying the character Lovina Birdie. In 2019, Khanvilkar made her Marathi television debut with the leading role in “Jeevlaga,” exploring the different shades of relationships. She continued her success streak with a notable role in Mohit Suri’s action thriller “Malang” in 2020, alongside Disha Patani, Aditya Roy Kapoor & Kunal Khemu.

In 2021, Khanvilkar featured in the Marathi drama “Well Done Baby.” In 2022, Amruta Khanvilkar took on the role of Manasi in Sachin Kundalkar’s “Pondicherry.” The same year, Khanvilkar achieved her first titular role in Prasad Oak’s Marathi musical love drama, “Chandramukhi.” In her brief appearance in the pan-Indian Marathi historical action film “Har Har Mahadev,” Khanvilkar garnered positive reviews for her impressive portrayal of Sonabai.

Continuing her successful run, Khanvilkar reunited with Satish Rajwade in the romantic drama film “Autograph – Ek Japun Thevavi Ashi Lovestory.” In 2024, Khanvilkar is seen in Disney+ Hotstar’s series “Lootere” written by Suparn Varma, Vishal Kapoor, Vaibhav Vishal, Jay Mehta starring opposite Vivek Gomber, Deepak Tijori, Rajat Kapoor, Chandan Roy Sanyal & Amruta Khanvilkar..
