Career

During his college days, Amit Trivedi, along with his friends Amartya, Shriram Iyer, Ram, and Vish, formed a band called Om the Fusion Band. They performed at local gigs and small shows, gradually gaining recognition. Times Music noticed them at one of their performances and offered to launch their album. Although the album didn’t succeed due to lack of promotion, it marked the beginning of Trivedi’s journey in the music industry.

Trivedi ventured into composing music for theatre, television shows, and Marathi films, as well as creating advertisement jingles for brands like McDonald’s and Airtel. He later began composing music for non-film albums, which led to collaborations with artists like Abhijeet Sawant and Prashant Tamang.

His breakthrough in Bollywood came when director Anurag Kashyap approached him to compose the soundtrack for the film Dev.D. Despite production delays, Dev.D was eventually released in 2008, featuring Trivedi’s unique and diverse music. The soundtrack received critical acclaim, earning Trivedi several awards and nominations, including the National Film Award for Best Music Direction.

Trivedi continued to make waves in the industry with his compositions for films like Wake Up Sid, Aisha, Ishaqzaade, and Lootera, earning nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director. His soundtrack for Queen further solidified his reputation as a versatile and talented composer.

Over the years, Trivedi received nominations for his work in films like Udta Punjab, Secret Superstar, and Manmarziyaan, demonstrating his consistent contribution to the Indian music scene. He also won accolades for songs like “Naina Da Kya Kasoor” from Andhadhun and the official anthem for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

Trivedi’s versatility extended beyond films as he composed music for television shows and made appearances on MTV. His collaborations and diverse compositions have established him as one of the most influential music directors in Bollywood.
