Career
Praak, born as Pratik Bachan in Chandigarh, started his musical journey under the name “Prakky B.” However, it wasn’t until 2012 when he teamed up with lyricist Jaani that his career gained momentum. Together, they released their first hit song “Soch” in 2013, performed by Harrdy Sandhu, marking a significant breakthrough for Praak.
In the following years, Praak became a prominent figure in the Punjabi music scene, composing and producing tracks for various singers like Jassie Gill, Harrdy Sandhu, and Diljit Dosanjh, among others. His collaboration with Jaani resulted in numerous chart-topping hits, including “Taara,” “Joker,” and “Backbone.”
In 2018, Praak stepped into the spotlight as a singer with his debut single “Mann Bharrya,” showcasing his soulful vocals. He continued to lend his voice to several tracks while composing hits like “Qismat” and “Kya Baat Ay.”
His foray into Bollywood began in 2019 with the song “Teri Mitti” from the film Kesari, followed by compositions for movies like Bala and Batla House. Praak’s versatility was evident as he sang, composed, and produced music across different genres.
In 2020, Praak released several successful tracks, including “Kuch Bhi Ho Jaye” and “Besharam Bewaffa,” while also contributing to the soundtrack of the film “Sufna.”
His career reached new heights in 2021 when he won the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for “Teri Mitti.” He continued to deliver hits with songs like “Mazaa” and “Baarish Ki Jaaye.”
Praak’s success extended beyond solo projects, as seen in collaborations like “Filhall” and its sequel “Filhaal 2 Mohabbat,” both featuring Akshay Kumar.
In July 2021, Praak’s song “Ranjha” for the film Shershaah became one of the most streamed songs in India. He also recreated his hit single “Mann Bharrya” for the same film.
In 2022, Praak marked his debut as a music director in Bollywood with songs for Akshay Kumar’s film Bachchan Pandey, showcasing his continued growth and influence in the music industry.
