Career

Arjun’s journey in the entertainment industry began when he was discovered by Mira Nair and Farhan Akhtar simultaneously for their respective short films, “Migration” and “Positive,” which were part of the ‘Aids Jaago’ project premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2007.

Following his debut, Arjun delivered notable performances in mainstream Indian films like “Luck By Chance,” “My Name Is Khan,” and “Ankur Arora Murder Case.” He also impressed audiences and critics with his roles in critically acclaimed independent films such as “Barah Aana,” “Coffee Bloom,” and the National-Award winning “I Am.” His performance in the English language film “Fireflies” earned him a Best Actor nomination at the New York Indian Film Festival in 2013.

In 2012, Arjun garnered praise for his role in the youth-centric mini-series “Bring On The Night,” which was a pioneering project in India before the streaming revolution. Arjun’s versatility extended to television commercials and brand endorsements, serving as a brand ambassador for the leading Indian lifestyle brand, ‘Godrej,’ from 2013 to 2016. He also appeared in Channel 4’s British drama series, ‘Indian Summers,’ portraying the volatile nationalist, ‘Naresh Banerjee.’ In 2018, Arjun showcased his versatility further with the Netflix original film, “Brij Mohan Amar Rahe (Long Live Brij Mohan),” portraying an underwear salesman from Delhi attempting to fake his own death.

In 2019, he played the lead role in Zoya Akhtar’s Amazon original series, “Made In Heaven,” receiving praise for his portrayal of a gay man living in urban India during a time when homosexuality was illegal. His performance earned him a nomination in the ‘Best Performance by an Actor’ category at the International Emmy Awards 2020. During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, Arjun was seen in “The Gone Game,” a suspense thriller series conceived, shot, and released during the pandemic.
