Career
Aannand began her career as an Instagram model before transitioning into acting. At 14, she was cast in the film Inimey Ippadithan (2015) alongside Santhanam, but her role was cut after she couldn’t attend a song shoot. Her first theatrical release was in Kavalai Vendam (2016), where she played a swimming instructor.
Aannand’s breakthrough came with the 2016 film Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, which was shot on a small budget and became successful, earning recognition for its cast members. She then appeared in Paadam (2018) and Maniyaar Kudumbam (2018), directed by Thambi Ramaiah.
In 2018, she starred in Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu, an adult comedy film shot in Thailand, which performed well at the box office. That same year, Aannand participated in the second season of the Bigg Boss Tamil reality show, hosted by Kamal Haasan. Although she was originally approached for the inaugural season, she declined the offer. During the second season, she was evicted on day 98, finishing in fifth place, and later appeared as a mentor on the TV series Jodi Unlimited in 2019.
Aannand continued her career by taking on the lead role in the animated zombie film Zombie. She was also recognized as the “most desirable woman on television” by the Chennai Times in 2018. In 2021, she won the Best Actress Award at the Las Vegas Independent Film Festival for her role in the film Bestie.
In 2018, Aannand revealed she was a victim during the MeToo movement in India, accusing a director of harassing her by asking for sexual favors in exchange for a role in his film.
On July 24, 2021, Aannand was involved in a serious car accident near Chennai, resulting in critical injuries. She was traveling with friends when their car hit a divider and fell into a pit, leading to the death of one of her friends. Witnesses reported that the SUV was speeding and lost control.
Throughout her career, Aannand has been an advocate for female empowerment. Her filmography includes various roles from her debut in Kavalai Vendam (2016) to Bagheera (2023), with special appearances in several films and music videos.
