In the ensuing confrontation, XXXTentacion was shot multiple times in the throat. He was rushed to Broward Health North Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

The suspects involved in his murder, including Michael Boatwright, who fired the fatal shots, and Dedrick Devonshay, were apprehended by the police a few days later. They were charged with first-degree murder without premeditation.
