Career
Varun Mitra embarked on his entertainment journey as a host for the travel TV show ‘2 For The Road’ in 2012, airing on NDTV GoodTimes. He continued his hosting journey in 2013 with another travel show called ‘Good Drives,’ also on NDTV GoodTimes, sponsored by Tata Safari. Following his hosting ventures, Varun featured in a TV show titled ‘Emission Impossible’ in 2020, aired on Discovery Channel and sponsored by Hyundai Kona Electric. In this show, he ventured to the Mt Everest base camp.
Aside from hosting, Varun showcased his talents in various commercials. He rose to prominence with a television commercial for Amazon Kindle Paperwhite in 2014. Over the years, he appeared in ads for Pepsi, Bajaj Insurance, Hero Passion Bike, Nissan Sunny Car, and Amazon Prime Video. In 2015, he starred in a short film ‘Rangeen’ for the clothing brand ‘Free People’ and acted alongside Katrina Kaif in a Titan Raga watches commercial. Varun’s ventures extended to the fashion world when he walked the ramp for the first time at Wills India Men’s Fashion Week, presenting designs by Gaurav Gupta.
In 2015, Varun made his acting debut in the Hindi film ‘Kaash,’ portraying the character Adil. This film premiered at the 2014 Tokyo film festival. He continued his acting journey with roles in films like ‘Jalebi’ (2016), where he played Dev Mathur. In 2023, he starred opposite Kangana Ranaut in the film ‘Tejas,’ portraying the character Ekveer.
Transitioning to web series, Varun showcased his acting prowess in ‘Bombers’ (2019) as Badol on ZEE5. He garnered praise for his performance as Deepak Rana in the Amazon Prime Video series ‘Guilty Minds’ (2022). Further expanding his repertoire, he appeared in ‘Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo’ (2023) alongside Dimple Kapadia and ‘Rakshak: India’s Braves’ (2023) on Amazon miniTV, portraying Lt. Triveni Singh.
