She started her acting career in Marathi theatre and got an opportunity to act in the play “Guru.” Following this, she acted in Nana Patekar’s famous play “Purus.” In 1979, she began working in movies, making her debut in the Marathi film “Sinhasan.” In 1993, she made her Bollywood debut with the movie “Shatranj.”

She has appeared in many movies such as “Maherchi Sadi” (Marathi), “Gundaraj” (Hindi), “Vaastav” (Hindi), “Krishna Cottage” (Hindi), “Sakhi” (Marathi), and “Rustom” (Hindi). She has also worked in TV serials like “Rishtey,” “Virudh,” “Kush is Tarah,” “Thoda Sa Aasmaan Thodi Si Zameen,” “Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon,” and “Zee Horror Show.” She gained significant attention from the show “Pavitra Rishta,” where she played the role of the evil mother-in-law, Savita Damodar Deshmukh. She usually plays supporting roles in movies and TV serials.

In 2016, she featured in the comedy show “Comedy Nights Live” on Viacom 18 but later quit due to some conflicts with her colleague and popular actor-comedian Krishna Abhishek. In 2018, she was a contestant on “Bigg Boss Marathi.” She has won many awards, including the Zee Gold Awards and BIG Television Awards, in the category of Best Negative Role.
