Tinnu Anand embarked on his journey in the film industry by joining Satyajit Ray as his assistant director. Together, they worked on several acclaimed films including Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne (1969), Aranyer Din Ratri (1970), Pratidwandi (1970), Seemabaddha (1971), and Ashani Sanket (1973).
Transitioning to the role of an independent director, Anand made his debut with Duniya Meri Jeb Mein (1979), a film produced by his brother Bittu Anand and Naresh Malhotra. The movie starred Shashi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Anand, and Ranjeet and achieved commercial success.
His directorial journey continued with the blockbuster hit Kaalia (1981), which portrayed Amitabh Bachchan as an angry young man. Subsequent films like Yeh Ishq Nahin Aasan (1984), Shahenshah (1988), and Main Azad Hoon (1989) further solidified his position in the industry.
In addition to directing, Anand showcased his acting prowess with notable performances in films like Pushpak (1987), Nayakan (1987), and Agneepath (1990). He portrayed diverse characters in commercially successful movies such as Krantiveer (1994), Bombay (1995), and Lajja.
