Supriya Pathak stepped into acting with the play “Maina Gurjari,” directed by her mother, Dina Pathak. Her talent caught the eye of Jennifer Kendall, who recommended her to Shyam Benegal for “Kalyug” (1981). Her portrayal of Subhadra in this Mahabharata adaptation won her a Filmfare Award.
She went on to feature in notable films like “Vijeta” (1982), “Bazaar” (1982), “Masoom” (1983), and “Mirch Masala” (1985). Pathak showcased her versatility by starring in diverse projects, including the Malayalam film “Akalathe Ambili” (1985).
In the television sphere, she appeared in popular shows like “Idhar Udhar” and “Baa Bahoo Aur Baby.” In 1994, she and her husband, Pankaj Kapur, established their TV production house, Grass Company, producing and acting in serials like “Mohandas B.A.L.L.B.”
After an 11-year break, she returned to the silver screen with “Sarkar” (2005) and its sequel. Noteworthy performances followed in “Wake Up Sid” (2009) and “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela” (2013). She ventured into Gujarati cinema with “Carry On Kesar” (2016).
In her personal life, Pathak married twice. She met Pankaj Kapur during the filming of “Agla Mausam” (1989), and they tied the knot in 1988. They have two children together.
