Career

Sonu Nigam embarked on his musical journey in 1992 with the song “Hum To Chhaila Ban Gaye” from the TV serial “Talash”. He then made his debut in Bollywood with the song “O Aasman Wale” from the movie “Aaja Meri Jaan” in 1993. Around the same time, he released his first album titled “Rafi Ki Yaadein”.

In 1995, Nigam began hosting the popular TV show “Sa Re Ga Ma”, gaining widespread recognition. His breakthrough came with the song “Accha Sila Diya” from the film “Bewafa Sanam” in 1997, followed by the patriotic song “Sandese Aate Hai” from the movie “Border”.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, Nigam delivered numerous hit songs in Bollywood, such as “Suraj Hua Maddham”, “Tanhayee”, and “Kal Ho Naa Ho”. He received his first Filmfare Award for the title song of the film “Saathiya” in 2002 and won accolades for his rendition of “Kal Ho Naa Ho” in 2003.

From 2004 onwards, Nigam continued to mesmerize audiences with songs like “Main Hoon Na”, “Do Pal”, and “Chup Chup Ke”. He also ventured into albums of Mohammed Rafi’s songs, releasing “Rafi Ki Yaadein” and “Rafi Resurrected”.

In 2008, Nigam showcased his versatility by releasing a single Punjabi track titled “Punjabi Please” and a collection of Rafi songs with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He also composed the title track of the film “Singh Saab The Great”.

In the following years, Nigam collaborated with international artists like Britney Spears and DJ Avicii. He received critical acclaim for songs like “Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin” from “Agneepath” and “Sapna Jahan” from “Brothers”.

In 2015, Nigam recorded a song with music director Khayyam and collaborated with musicians worldwide for “Imagine (UNICEF: World Version)”. He also released his single “Crazy Dil” featuring various personalities.

The years 2017 and 2018 saw Nigam’s international collaborations with DJ Kshmr and American rapper MC Yogi. He continued to deliver hits in Bollywood with songs like “Hans Mat Pagli” and “Gori Tu Latth Maar”.

In 2020, Nigam launched his music label ‘I Believe Music’ and released his first track “Rudhrashtakam” under the label. He also ventured into the world of NFTs, becoming the first Indian singer to do so with his NFT series featuring his English-language single “Hall of Fame” and personal diary pages.
