Career

Sonali Bendre began her career as a model before entering the Star Dust Talent Search. She made her film debut at the age of 19 with “Aag” in 1994. The same year, she also appeared in “Naaraaz.” Both films garnered her awards for Best Female Debut.

In 1995, Bendre had three releases, including “The Don,” “Gaddaar,” and “Takkar.” However, it was her appearance in the song “Humma Humma” from the film “Bombay” that brought her significant recognition.

The year 1996 marked a turning point in her career with five releases, including “Rakshak,” “Apne Dam Par,” “Sapoot,” “English Babu Desi Mem,” and “Diljale.” Her performance in “Diljale” was particularly praised, establishing her as a leading actress.

In 1997, Bendre starred in “Bhai,” “Tarazu,” and “Qahar,” further solidifying her position in the industry. 1998 was another successful year for Bendre with films like “Keemat – They Are Back,” “Humse Badhkar Kaun,” “Angaaray,” “Duplicate,” “Major Saab,” and “Zakhm.” In 1999, she appeared in “Sarfarosh” opposite Aamir Khan and “Hum Saath-Saath Hain” opposite Salman Khan, both of which were commercially successful.
