Career

Before entering the television industry, Shubhangi Atre shot a print advertisement for a regional shampoo brand. After getting married, she started her acting career in 2007 when producer Ekta Kapoor offered her a role in the TV show “Kasautii Zindagii Kay.” Following this, she starred in a lead role in “Kasturi” and later played a negative character in “Havan.”

In 2013, Atre replaced Shilpa Shinde in the popular sitcom “Chidiya Ghar.” Interestingly, she replaced Shinde once again three years later, in April 2016, to play the role of Angoori Manmohan Tiwari in the show “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!” on &TV. In the same year, she also took on the role of Devsena in “Adhuri Kahaani Hamari,” also on &TV. Her portrayal in “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!” made her a well-known figure in households across the country.

Shilpa Shinde, the original Angoori, accused Atre of copying her portrayal of the character. In response, Atre explained that she was adopting the mannerisms of Angoori, not copying Shinde. She expressed that people often told her they could only picture her as Angoori, which she considered a significant compliment.

Atre commented on her decision to join “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!” despite initially having reservations. She had three offers at the time: two for new shows and one for “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!” Her husband advised against taking a replacement role, but she loved the show and felt it was a game-changer in comedy, offering adult content without being vulgar.

Although Atre received mixed reviews for her portrayal of Angoori, The Times of India praised her performance, stating she did a fantastic job in the role.
