Shivangi Kolhapure is a well-known Indian actress and singer. She is the wife of renowned Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor. She worked in several Bollywood films, including “Do Anjaane” (1976), “Barood” (1976), and “Saajan Bina Suhagan” (1978).

Shivangi Kolhapure met Shakti Kapoor for the first time on the set of the film “Kismet” (1980). They immediately connected and fell in love. After being in a secret relationship for two years, they decided to get married. However, Shivangi’s parents were not happy when they found out about the relationship and locked Shivangi in a room. Shakti, who was twelve years older than Shivangi, was disliked by her parents due to his age and his roles as a villain in Bollywood films.

With no other way to convince her parents, the couple decided to elope. In an interview, Shakti Kapoor shared that they ran away to get married. Shivangi, a Maharashtrian, and Shakti, a Punjabi, faced resistance from her family due to cultural differences and his reputation as an actor.

When Shakti’s father, Sikandarlal Kapoor, learned about their marriage, he decided not to speak to his son. However, Shakti’s mother expressed her desire to meet Shivangi. Upon meeting her, she found Shivangi to be very nice. When she sang a few lines, Shakti’s father, a huge fan of Lata Mangeshkar, was impressed to learn that Lata ji was Shivangi’s first cousin. He forgave Shakti for all his mistakes, moved by Shivangi’s singing.

In 1980, Shivangi played the role of Moti’s sister in the film “Kismet,” where Moti’s role was played by Mithun Chakraborty. She also appeared in “Barood” (1976) and “Saajan Bina Suhagan” (1978).

Shivangi and her sister Padmini sang songs like “Masterji Ki Aa Gayi Chitthi” in the film “Kitab” (1977) and “Mere Bahna Badi Pyari Hai” in the film “Dushman Dost” (1981). Shivangi collaborated with Lata Mangeshkar on the song “Yaadon Ki Baaraat.” She sang “Ovalite Bhauraya” from the 1974 film “Ovalite Bhauraya” and worked with Kishore Kumar on the song “Luk Chhip Luk Chhip Jao Na” in 1976.

Shivangi was part of the costume department during the shoot of the film “Ek Nai Paheli” (1984). In 2007, she and Shakti Kapoor participated in the celebrity dance reality television series “Nach Baliye-Season 3,” but had to quit the show after Shivangi suffered from back pain.
