Shukla hails from the Vaishali district of Bihar, born into a family of bureaucrats, political leaders, and scholars. Her brother, Tenzin Priyadarshi, is a Buddhist monk, while her sister is an attorney.

Her acting journey commenced with feature films, starting with “Khamosh Pani” in 2003, a French-German collaboration, where she portrayed the character Zubeida.
