Career

In 2001, Shibani Dandekar faced a significant event when she was hit by a car. Following this incident, she decided to relocate to New York City, where she began her career in American television. Dandekar hosted three nationally syndicated television shows: Namaste America, V Desi, and the Asian Variety Show. In this role, she introduced some of Bollywood’s biggest stars to American audiences and even hosted an event titled An Evening With Shah Rukh Khan in Atlantic City.

After her stint in American television, Dandekar returned to India and continued her work as a television host. She also ventured into modeling alongside her television career. Dandekar’s anchoring skills led her to host various major events and shows, including the Maxim Hot 100, Nike, Rolls-Royce, and Puma events, among others.

Over the years, Dandekar has anchored several popular shows, including After Hours on Zee Cafe, Men 2.0 on AXN, and Let’s Design on ZoOm. She also hosted India’s Sexiest Bachelor and India’s Glam Diva on Big CBS Prime and Big CBS Love, respectively.

In addition to her television work, Dandekar participated in the Indian version of Dancing With the Stars, known as Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. She also appeared in the reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 8 in 2017, where she was eliminated in the first week.

In 2019, Dandekar had the honor of hosting the opening ceremony of the ICC Cricket World Cup alongside Andrew Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness. Her husband, Farhan Akhtar, also appeared as a guest representing India during the event.
