Irani was born on September 17, 1983, in Mumbai, to a family following the Irani (Zoroastrian) tradition. She spent seven years studying at The Lawrence School, Lovedale, in Ooty. Later, she completed her education at Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai, and was working towards an MBA degree before entering the modeling industry.
Irani shared the news about her connection with Mohit Sehgal, her fellow actor in Miley Jab Hum Tum, on November 19, 2010, which happened to be the final day of filming. In December 2015, Irani and Sehgal decided to get engaged. They officially became a married couple on January 25, 2016, in Goa.
