Sameera Reddy was born in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra, on 14 December 1978. Her father is Telugu, and her mother is Mangalorean Konkani. Sameera has two older siblings, Meghna Reddy and Sushama Reddy. Her mother, Nakshatra, also known as Niki, was a microbiologist who worked with an NGO.

Sameera attended Bombay Scottish School in Mahim, Mumbai, for her schooling and later graduated from Sydenham College.

In her early years, Sameera described herself as a “tomboy” and felt like the “ugly duckling in the family.” She mentioned being plump, wearing glasses, and having a low glam quotient until the age of 19.

However, the anticipated debut did not materialize.

Her breakthrough in Bollywood came with the 2002 film Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, where she played a significant role. Subsequently, in 2004, Sameera starred in the Hindi movie Musafir alongside Anil Kapoor, Aditya Pancholi, and Koena Mitra.

After gaining recognition in the South Indian film industry with her debut in Varanam Aayiram, Sameera Reddy expanded her reach and became the first Indian actress to have her own video game called “Sameera the Street Fighter.”

In 2012, Sameera took on the role of a judge for the Miss Sri Lanka Online contest, showcasing her involvement beyond acting. Throughout the years, Sameera Reddy has carved a unique place for herself in the Indian entertainment industry.
