Raj Babbar began his journey by training in the Method school of acting at NSD, where he was also involved in Street Theatre. After completing his training in New Delhi, he ventured to Mumbai to pursue a career in films. He made his debut opposite Reena Roy, a prominent actress of that era. One of his notable roles early in his career was in the movie “Insaf Ka Tarazu,” where he played a horrifying character who commits assault. His association with the B. R. Chopra banner led him to feature in films like “Nikaah” and “Aaj Ki Aawaz.”
In addition to his success in Hindi cinema, Raj Babbar made significant contributions to Punjabi cinema. He delivered remarkable performances in movies such as “Chann Pardesi,” “Marhi Da Deeva,” and “Long Da Lishkara,” which were acclaimed for their realistic portrayal of serious themes, marking an innovative approach in Punjabi cinema. He also appeared in successful Punjabi films like “Aasra Pyar Da,” “Mahaul Theek Hai,” and “Shaheed Uddham Singh,” among others.
