Nikita Dutta began her career with a foray into beauty pageants, participating in Femina Miss India 2012 and reaching the finals. In 2014, she made her acting debut in the romantic comedy film Lekar Hum Deewana Dil alongside Armaan Jain, Deeksha Seth, Rohini Hattangadi, Gautami Kapoor, Akhil Iyer, Kumud Mishra, Neha Mahajan amongst others.

Dutta ventured into television in 2015 with her debut in Dream Girl, where she played Lakshmi, an aspiring actress. She left the show later that year and found success portraying Suman in Ek Duje Ke Vaaste, which concluded in 2016.

From 2017 to 2018, Dutta appeared in the TV series Haasil as a lawyer, marking her last television appearance. In 2018, she returned to films with the period sports drama Gold, followed by an appearance in Zoya Akhtar’s segment of the anthology film Lust Stories.

Her web debut came in 2019 with the series Aafat on MX Player. The same year, she portrayed a film actress in the romantic drama Kabir Singh. In 2020, Dutta starred in the film Maska, portraying an aspiring actor.

In 2021, she appeared in The Big Bull opposite Abhishek Bachchan, Ileana D’Cruz & Saurabh Shukla and in Dybbuk opposite Emraan Hashmi. In 2022, Dutta starred in the musical supernatural comedy Rocket Gang alongside Aditya Seal. She also appeared in the web series Khakee: The Bihar Chapter opposite Karan Tacker.
