Career
After completing her education, Gayatri Joshi began her career as a Video Jockey on Channel V India. In 1999, she participated in the Femina Miss India competition and was among the top five contestants. At the end of the show, the Sony Entertainment Channel selected her through viewer voting to represent India in Japan’s Miss International competition.
In 2000, she represented India in the Miss International competition held in Japan. Soon after, Gayatri received offers for Indian television commercials for brands like Bombay Dyeing, Philips, Ponds, Godrej, Sunsilk, LG, and Gits – Heat and Eat. She also appeared in a Hyundai ad with Shah Rukh Khan and in Indian music videos for Jagjit Singh’s “Kaghaz Ki Kashti” and Hans Raj Hans’ “Jhanjaria.”
In 2001, Gayatri modeled for the Seasons Catalogue and Calendar. In December 2004, she made her film debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Ashutosh Gowariker’s film “Swades.” Although the movie was praised by Indian film critics, it did not perform well at the box office.
