Career

As a student, Ankur was deeply involved in musical theater productions, a cappella groups, and dance companies. He kicked off his professional acting career in New York City, starting with short films and off-Broadway theater.

In 2018, Ankur returned to the stage in Mumbai, starring alongside Ila Arun and K. K. Raina in Tammy Ryan’s “Baby’s Blues” at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. However, it was his roles as Arjun Nair in “Four More Shots Please!” and as Arjun Mathur’s love interest in “Made in Heaven” that brought him significant recognition.

His feature film debut came in “The Tashkent Files” opposite veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah. In 2020, he appeared on the big screen again in “Thappad” alongside Taapsee Pannu and in “Taish” alongside Jim Sarbh.

Ankur secured his first lead roles in the crime thriller series “Undekhi” and the Marathi film “Nirmal En Route.” Additionally, he portrayed the role of Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in the film “Sarabha: Cry for Freedom.”
