Early Life
Tanuja Lokhande was born on December 19, 1984, in Indore, into a Marathi family. Her parents are Shashikant Lokhande and Vandana Phadnis Lokhande, with her mother working as a teacher. Tanuja has two brothers, Sooraj and Arun, as well as a sister named Jyoti.
During her early years, Tanuja excelled in badminton and even became a champion in the sport. After graduating, she decided to pursue a career in acting and moved to Mumbai in 2005 to chase her dreams.
Career
Tanuja Lokhande gained recognition after participating in India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj (2007–09). Subsequently, she landed the lead role of Archana Deshmukh in Ekta Kapoor’s daily soap Pavitra Rishta. Lokhande portrayed Archana opposite Sushant Singh Rajput and Hiten Tejwani from 2009 to 2014. In 2013, Pavitra Rishta underwent a generation leap, and Lokhande began playing the role of Archana’s granddaughter, Ankita Karmarkar, until the series concluded in 2014.
Lokhande then appeared in reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4 and Comedy Circus ka Naya Daur. Additionally, she did two episodes for Ek Thhi Naayka. In 2018, Lokhande announced her film debut in Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, portraying the role of Jhalkaribai with Kangana Ranaut.
She next appeared in Baaghi 3 (2020) alongside Tiger Shroff, Shraddha Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh. Lokhande reprised her role as Archana Deshmukh in the web series Pavitra Rishta: It’s Never Too Late from 2021 to 2022. Additionally, she participated in StarPlus’ Smart Jodi with her husband, Vicky Jain, and won the season.
In 2023, Lokhande starred in the film The Last Coffee, portraying a woman going through a divorce. Her performance was lauded by critics. She later appeared as a contestant on the reality TV show Bigg Boss 17, alongside her husband, Vicky Jain and other contestants Mannara Chopra, Munawar Faruqui, Aishwarya Sharma, Jigna Vora, Soniya Bansal, Neil Bhatt, Isha Malviya, Abhishek Kumar, Ayesha Khan, Samarth Jurel, Park Min-jun, Manasvi Mamgai, Anurag Dobhal, Rinku Dhawan & Sunny Arya.
