Early Life

Yami Gautam, born in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, into a Hindu Brahmin family, grew up in Chandigarh. Her father, Mukesh Gautam, is a Punjabi film director and the VP of PTC Network. Her mom is Anjali Gautam, and she has a younger sister, Surilie Gautam, who made her debut in the Punjabi film Power Cut.

Yami attended regular school and later started college for a degree in law honors. Initially aspiring to join the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), her path changed at the age of 20 when she decided to pursue acting. Even though she began studying law honors, she left full-time studies for acting. Currently, she is working on her part-time graduation in Mumbai. Yami enjoys reading, interior decoration, and listening to music.

In 2015, while filming Sanam Re, Yami entered a relationship with Pulkit Samrat. The couple parted ways in 2018. Yami Gautam married Aditya Dhar on June 4, 2021, and after marriage, she adopted the name Yami Gautam Dhar.

Career

Yami Gautam, born in Himachal Pradesh, ventured into Mumbai at the age of 20 to pursue a career in movies. She started her television journey with shows like “Chand Ke Paar Chalo” and “Raajkumar Aaryyan,” followed by a notable role in “Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam” on Colors. Yami also took part in reality shows like “Meethi Choori No 1” and “Kitchen Champion Season 1.”

Her film journey began in 2009 with the Kannada film “Ullasa Utsaha,” and she made her Bollywood debut in 2012 with “Vicky Donor,” a romantic comedy by Shoojit Sircar. The film, co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana, became a commercial success, earning Yami critical acclaim and awards.

In the following years, Yami appeared in films like “Badlapur” (2015), “Kaabil” (2017), and “Batti Gul Meter Chalu” (2018). She gained significant recognition with her role in “Uri: The Surgical Strike” (2019) alongside Mohit Raina, Vicky Kaushal, a military action thriller that became a massive success.
