Career

Vikas Kumar’s journey in the entertainment industry began with theatre. He worked in various plays such as ‘The Legend of Ram– Prince of India’, ‘The Fifty Day War’, ‘Kamra Number 420’, and ‘Khamosh! Adalat Jaari Hai.’ In 2004, he and the cast and crew of ‘The Legend of Ram- Prince of India’ were honored by the then President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Transitioning to television, Kumar appeared in TV serials like ‘Powder’ (2010), where he portrayed Umesh Jagdale, and ‘Khotey Sikkey’ (2011), where he played Senior Inspector Damodar Deshmukh. He gained popularity for his role as Inspector Rajat in the long-running TV show ‘CID’ in 2012–2013.

In the realm of Hindi cinema, Kumar has appeared in films such as ‘Handover’ (2012), ‘Prithipal Singh- A Story’ (2015), ‘Ajji’ (2017), and ‘Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’ (2018).

His foray into the digital space came with the popular Disney+ Hotstar web-series ‘Aarya’ in 2020, where he portrayed the character of ACP Younus Khan. Additionally, Kumar ventured into film production with the short film ‘Sonsi’ (Shadow Bird), which garnered several accolades including the ‘Best Film’ award at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival 2021 and the ‘Best Cinematography’ award at the 67th National Awards.

Apart from his acting endeavors, Kumar is also known as a dialogue coach in Bollywood. His debut as a dialect coach was in the film ‘Gulaal’ (2009). He has since worked as a dialect teacher for various actors, including Vidya Balan in ‘Ishqiya’ (2010), Kalki Koechlin in ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ (2011), Lisa Haydon in ‘The Shaukeens’ (2014), and Aditya Roy Kapur in ‘Fitoor’ (2016).
