Career

Deverakonda began his acting journey in 2011 with the romantic comedy “Nuvvila,” directed by Ravi Babu. He followed this with a minor role in Sekhar Kammula’s “Life is Beautiful” in 2012.

In 2015, he landed a supporting role in the coming-of-age drama “Yevade Subramanyam,” directed by Nag Ashwin. The film was produced by the daughters of Ashwini Dutt, a renowned producer in the Telugu film industry. His performance caught the attention of the audience and industry insiders, leading to further opportunities.

Deverakonda’s breakthrough came with his first lead role in “Pelli Choopulu,” a coming-of-age romance film directed by Tharun Bhascker. The film was a commercial success and garnered critical acclaim, earning Deverakonda accolades and awards.

He continued to impress with his performance in the romantic drama “Arjun Reddy” in 2017. Although the film sparked controversy for its bold portrayal, Deverakonda’s portrayal of the protagonist received widespread critical acclaim and won him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu.

Following the success of “Arjun Reddy,” Deverakonda starred in various films, including “Mahanati,” “Geetha Govindam,” and “Dear Comrade.” While some of these films received positive reviews and were commercially successful, others faced mixed reactions and box office disappointments.

In 2022, Deverakonda appeared in the Hindi–Telugu bilingual film “Liger,” with Ananya Panday which received negative reviews. He followed this with a role in “Kushi,” with Samantha Ruth Prabhu which also received mixed reviews and was deemed a box office disappointment. In 2024, he starred in Family Star alongside Mrunal Thakur amongst others.
