Early Life

Sonakshi Sinha was born on 2 June 1987 in Patna, Bihar, to the well-known film actors Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha. Her father comes from a Bihari Kayastha family, while her mother hails from a Sindhi Hindu family. Shatrughan Sinha has had a notable political career, serving as a Member of Parliament for the Bharatiya Janata Party before switching to the Indian National Congress in 2019.

Sonakshi is the youngest among her siblings, having twin brothers named Luv Sinha and Kush Sinha. She attended Arya Vidya Mandir for her early education and later pursued a degree in the fashion design program at Premlila Vithaldas Polytechnic of Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University.

Career

Sonakshi Sinha began her career as a costume designer, working on films like Mera Dil Leke Dekho in 2005. Her acting journey started with the 2010 blockbuster Dabangg, where she starred opposite Salman Khan. Despite needing to lose 30 kg for her role as a village girl, her performance was praised, earning her awards such as the Filmfare Award and IIFA Awards for Best Female Debut.

In 2012, Sinha had four releases, including Rowdy Rathore, which became a blockbuster despite mixed reviews. Her subsequent films like Joker and Son of Sardaar received varying responses, with the latter achieving economic success. Dabangg 2, the sequel to her debut, was a financial hit but received limited critical acclaim.

Moving to 2013, Sinha delivered a mature performance in Lootera, though the film had a lukewarm box office response. Her subsequent films in 2013, such as Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara! and R… Rajkumar, received mixed reviews.
