Career

Shilpa Shinde started her television career in 1999, gaining recognition for her role in the serial “Bhabhi.” She subsequently appeared in “Sanjeevani” and played the lead role in “Amrapali” in 2002. Continuing her streak, she featured in another show called “Miss India” the same year. In January 2004, Shilpa portrayed the parallel lead character Meher in DD National’s series “Meher – Kahani Haq Aur Haqeeqat Ki.”

In 2006, she acted in “Hari Mirchi Lal Mirchi” and “Waaris” as Gayatri. Shilpa ventured into Telugu cinema with roles in Dasari Narayana Rao’s “Chhina” and Suresh Verma’s “Shivani.” Her breakthrough role came in 2011 with the character Koyal Narayan in SAB TV’s sitcom “Chidiya Ghar,” opposite Paresh Ganatra. However, she left the show in 2014 due to personal issues and was replaced by Shubhangi Atre.

In 2015, Shilpa gained immense popularity for her portrayal of Angoori Bhabhi in &TV’s “Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!” However, she exited the show in March 2016, citing problems with the makers and alleging mental torture. She was replaced by Shubhangi Atre.

Shilpa entered the reality show “Bigg Boss 11” in 2017 and emerged as the winner in January 2018. In 2020, she appeared on “Gangs of Filmistan” but later quit the show. Later that year, Shilpa portrayed the role of Queen Meerawati in the web series “Paurashpur.”

In 2022, she participated in “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10” and was eliminated in Week 7, securing the 12th position. In 2023, she made a cameo appearance as ACP Naina Mathur in Sony SAB’s “Maddam Sir.”

Controversy

Shilpa Shinde’s departure from the show “Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai!” in 2016 sparked controversy. She accused producer Binaifer Kohli of mental harassment and her husband, Sanjay Kholi, of sexual harassment. Legal action ensued, with Shilpa eventually reaching a settlement with the producers after a year-long legal battle.

In 2016, reports emerged that Shilpa Shinde was allegedly banned by CINTAA (Cine And TV Artistes’ Association) due to her dispute with the producers of “Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai!”. However, CINTAA clarified that there was no ban but demanded an explanation and compensation from Shilpa for causing losses to the channel and producer.

Following her cameo on “Maddam Sir”, Shilpa engaged in a war of words with actress Gulki Joshi. Shilpa criticized the show’s cast and crew, prompting Gulki to respond, stating that Shilpa’s comments were aimed at seeking attention.

During her time on Bigg Boss 11, Shilpa Shinde clashed with television producer Vikas Gupta, accusing him of sabotaging her career. Vikas retaliated on social media, criticizing Shilpa and denying her allegations.

In 2020, Shilpa faced controversy after leaving the TV show “Gangs Of Filmistan.” Producers Preeti and Neeti Simoes accused her of leaving without proper communication, leading to a public dispute between Shilpa and the producers on social media.
