Career

Suman began his acting career with the film Utsav, where he starred opposite Rekha. Over the years, he appeared in around 35 films, including Manav Hatya, Naache Mayuri, Sansar, Anubhav, Tridev, Pati Parmeshwar, and Ranbhoomi.

In 1984, he made his television debut with the show Wah Janaab, acting alongside Kiran Juneja. His television journey included popular shows like Dekh Bhai Dekh, Reporter, Kabhi Idhar Kabhi Udhar, Chote Babu, Andaz, Amar Prem, Vilayati Babu, Movers n Shakers, Simply Shekhar, and Carry On Shekhar.

Suman ventured into hosting with shows like Film Deewane and The Great Indian Comedy Show on Star One. He also appeared in episodes of Dial One Aur Jeeto on Sahara TV and hosted quiz shows like Nilaam Ghar on Zee TV, He-Man on Star One, and Poll Khol on STAR News. Later, he hosted Abki Bari Shekhar Bihari on Aaj Tak.

As a judge, Suman was part of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and other comedy shows like Comedy Circus on Sony TV and Comedy Superstar on SAB TV. He also hosted Jab Khelo SAB Khelo on SAB TV and participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’s fourth season on Sony TV.

In the realm of music, Suman made his singing debut with the album Kuch Khwaab Aise, featuring eight love ballads composed by Aadesh Shrivastava with lyrics by Shyam Raj. Additionally, he appeared as a participant on the reality TV series Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka in December 2009.

In 2014, Suman made his directorial debut with the film Heartless. However, his foray into politics saw him contest the Lok Sabha election in May 2009 from Patna Sahib on a Congress ticket, where he came in third place, losing to BJP’s Shatrughan Sinha.
