Dutt began his Bollywood journey in 1981 with the blockbuster hit “Rocky.” Following this, he starred in “Vidhaata” in 1982, alongside veteran actors Dilip Kumar, Shammi Kapoor, and Sanjeev Kumar. He continued to feature in movies like “Main Awara Hoon” in 1983 and “Jaan Ki Baazi” in 1985.

However, it was the 1986 film “Naam” that marked a turning point in Dutt’s career. The movie was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful. Throughout the late ’80s, he appeared in successful films like “Imaandaar,” “Inaam Dus Hazaar,” and “Jeete Hain Shaan Se.”

His success carried into the 1990s with films such as “Sadak,” “Saajan,” and “Khalnayak.” “Saajan” was the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1991, while “Khalnayak” became a blockbuster in 1993. Despite facing legal troubles related to the 1993 serial bombings in Mumbai, Dutt continued to work in films like “Daud” and “Dushman.”

Dutt experienced a career resurgence in 1999 with films like “Kartoos,” “Khoobsurat,” and “Vaastav: The Reality,” for which he won his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor. His role in “Mission Kashmir” in 2000 garnered critical acclaim and multiple awards.
