Career
Sanchita Shetty began her acting career in the Kannada film industry with a supporting role in the hit film “Mungaru Male” (2006), where she played a friend to the female lead portrayed by Pooja Gandhi. She continued to appear in supporting roles in Kannada films like “Milana” (2007), “Uda” (2009), and “Bhaya.com” (2009). Although she worked on a film titled “Gaganachukki,” it never saw a release. However, she decided to transition to Tamil cinema due to her reluctance to continue playing second lead roles in Kannada films.
In Tamil cinema, Sanchita Shetty made her debut in the film “Azhukkan Azhagakiran” (2010). She gained recognition for her role alongside Jayam Ravi in “Thillalangadi” (2010), with the director Mohan Raja recommending her for a role in “Orange” (2010) featuring Ram Charan. In 2012, she landed her first leading role in “Kollaikaran.”
In 2013, Shetty achieved critical and commercial success with her role in Nalan Kumarasamy’s black comedy “Soodhu Kavvum,” where she portrayed an imaginary character and received praise for her performance. She continued her success by starring alongside Ashok Selvan in “Pizza II: Villa” (2013).
After a brief hiatus from Kannada cinema, Shetty returned in 2016 with the film “Badmaash,” directed by Akash Srivatsa, where she played a radio jockey. In Tamil cinema, she appeared in films like “Ennodu Vilayadu” (2017), “Rum” (2017), “Enkitta Mothathe” (2017), “Yenda Thalaiyila Yenna Vekkala” (2018), and “Johnny” (2018).
In 2021, Shetty appeared in the films “Devadas Brothers” and “Vinodhaya Sitham,” showcasing her versatility and continued presence in the Tamil film industry.
