Career

After making her stage debut, Tamhankar transitioned to television with minor roles in 2003. However, she gained recognition with her role in the ETV Marathi soap opera “Ya Gojirvanya Gharat,” where she portrayed a tolerant wife. She continued with supporting roles in various daily soaps, including Ekta Kapoor’s “Kasturi” and the surrogate role in “Anubandh” in 2007.

In 2008, Tamhankar ventured into films, making her debut with supporting roles in Subhash Ghai’s “Black & White” and Aamir Khan’s “Ghajini.” Her breakthrough in Marathi cinema came with “Sanai Choughade” the same year, where she starred opposite Subodh Bhave and Shreyas Talpade. Critics noted her promising performance in her debut Marathi film.

The following years saw Tamhankar in several Marathi films like “Haay Kaay…Naay Kaay,” “Sumbaran,” and “Be Dune Saade Char.” She garnered praise for her role in Renuka Shahane’s “Rita.” In 2010, she portrayed Lady Don in “Ajab Lagnachi Gajab Gosht” and made a brief appearance in Mahesh Manjrekar’s “City of Gold.”
