Career
Renuka Shahane embarked on her career in the entertainment industry in the late 1980s. She made her debut in the Marathi film industry with “Haach Sunbaicha Bhau” in 1992. Around the same time, she gained widespread recognition as one of the anchors of the immensely popular Hindi TV show, Surabhi.
In 1994, Renuka Shahane ventured into Hindi cinema with a pivotal role in the blockbuster film “Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!” Following this, she received accolades for her performance in the Marathi film “Aboli,” earning her the Filmfare Award Marathi Best Actress in 1995.
Shahane continued to showcase her acting prowess in both Marathi and Hindi films. In 2003, she made her directorial debut with the Marathi film “Rita,” based on her mother’s novel. She also appeared in various television serials, including “Circus,” where she portrayed the love interest of Shah Rukh Khan’s character, and “Imtihaan,” where her portrayal of a strong-willed woman received acclaim.
Her directorial venture in Hindi cinema came with the film “Tribhanga” in 2021, starring Kajol, Tanvi Azmi, and Mithila Palkar. The film explores complex relationships within a family and received positive reviews for its storytelling and performances.
