Career
In the early 1990s, Rahul Roy appeared in several romantic films, including “Majhdhaar,” “Dilwale Kabhi Na Hare,” “Pyar Ka Saaya,” and “Jaanam,” although these films did not achieve much success. However, his performance in “Junoon” was well-received and is considered one of his best.
Roy’s breakthrough role came with the 1990 film “Aashiqui,” which garnered him significant attention in Bollywood. Following the success of “Aashiqui,” Roy signed numerous films, but many of them faced delays or were ultimately shelved.
Among the projects that didn’t materialize were “Dilon Ka Rishta,” “Ayudh,” “Premabhishek,” “Tune Mera Dil Le Liya,” “Dil Diya Chori Chori,” “Phir Kabhi,” “Kalyug,” “Vajra,” and “Jab Jab Dil Mile.” Roy was also slated to play the male lead in the Bollywood remake of “Revenge,” titled “Khilona,” but the project was shelved.
After a hiatus, Roy returned to acting in 2005 with “Meri Aashiqui,” where he played the lead role. Subsequently, he appeared in films like “Naughty Boy,” “Rafta Rafta,” and “To B or Not to B.” He also participated in the television reality show “Bigg Boss” in 2006 and emerged as the winner.
Throughout his career, Roy has been involved in various film and television projects, including appearances in films like “Bipasha – The Black Beauty,” “Vidyarthi,” and “Cabaret,” as well as television shows like “Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee,” “Hanste Khelte,” and “Karishma – The Miracles of Destiny.”
