Early Life
Samrat was born on December 29, 1983, and grew up in a Punjabi Hindu family in Delhi, where his family is involved in real estate. He attended Manav Sthali School and completed his schooling at Montfort Senior Secondary School in Ashok Vihar, Delhi.
Initially, he enrolled in an advertising course at Apeejay Institute of Design, Delhi. However, after studying for five months, he got a modelling assignment. Following this opportunity, he decided to leave his studies and move to Mumbai, where he joined an acting course under the guidance of Kishore Namit Kapoor.
Career
In 2005, Samrat moved to Mumbai, and in 2006, he made his acting debut on the long-running television show “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” by Balaji Telefilms. He was seen alongside Mouni Roy, Smriti Irani, Apara Mehra, Amar Upadhyay, Sumeet Sachdev, Riva Bubber, Ronit Roy, Gauri Pradhan Tejwani, Ketki Dave, Shabir Ahluwalia, Mandira Bedi, Karishma Tanna, Hussain Kuwajerwala, Ashlesha Savant, Sakshi Tanwar & Hansika Motwani.
In 2008, he appeared as a contestant on “Kaho Na Yaar Hai” with Mouni Roy, Sanaya Irani, Karan Patel, Sonu Sood, Ronit Roy, Karishma Tanna, Juhi Parmar, Aamir Ali, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Dia Mirza, Suniel Shetty, Juhi Chawla, Archana Puran Singh & Parmeet Sethi. In 2011, Samrat took on the lead role in choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant’s musical theatrical, “Taj Express.”
His film journey began with the romantic comedy “Bitto Boss” in 2012 with Fatima Sana Shaikh & Suniel Shetty . Samrat’s next notable role was as Hunny in the ensemble comedy film “Fukrey,” alongside Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, Pankaj Tripathi, Vishakha Singh, Priya Anand and Anurag Arora.
In 2014, he had two releases – “Jai Ho” with Salman Khan, Daisy Shah, Genelia D’Souza, Suniel Shetty, Sana Khan, Tabu, Danny Denzongpa, Mahesh Manjrekar, Mohnish Bahl & Vatsal Seth and “O Teri” with Sarah-Jane Dias, Mandira Bedi, Anupam Kher, Vijay Raaz, Jatin Sarna and Murali Sharma.
In 2017, Samrat starred in the successful “Fukrey Returns,” marking a turning point in his career. In 2018, he played Veer Arora in “Veerey Ki Wedding” with Kriti Kharbanda, Jimmy Shergill, Satish Kaushik, Yuvika Chaudhary, Vijay Raaz and Vilas Naik in “3 Storeys.” His 2019 release was “Pagalpanti,” alongside Urvashi Rautela, Kriti Kharbanda, Ileana D’Cruz, John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, Anil Kapoor & Saurabh Shukla and in 2020, he starred in the thriller drama film “Taish.”
His only release in 2021 was the trilingual film “Kaadan,” where he portrayed Shankar in the Hindi version. Samrat was last seen in “Fukrey 3” and “Suswagatam Khushamadeed” opposite Isabelle Kaif, Priyanka Singh, Rituraj Singh and Arun Bali
