Early Life

Born on June 6, 1988, in Rishikesh, Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand), Kakkar and her family shifted to Delhi in the early 1990s with hopes for her singing career. She began performing at local events and religious gatherings at the age of four. In 2004, Kakkar, along with her brother Tony Kakkar, moved to Mumbai. At eighteen, in 2006, she auditioned for the second season of Indian Idol but faced an early elimination from the show.

Career

Neha Kakkar was born on June 6, 1988, in Rishikesh, Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand). Her family moved to Delhi in the early 1990s to support her singing dreams. At just four years old, she started performing at local events and religious gatherings. In 2004, Neha, along with her brother Tony Kakkar, relocated to Mumbai. Unfortunately, at the age of eighteen in 2006, she faced an early elimination in the second season of Indian Idol.

In 2008, Neha launched her debut album, “Neha The Rockstar,” featuring music by Meet Bros. Anjjan. She also recorded for her brother’s album, “Romeo Juliet,” and sang “Hai Rama” from the movie “Meerabai Not Out.” Her versatility showed as she provided chorus vocals for A.R. Rahman’s theme song for “Blue” (2009) and sang the title track for the soap opera “Na Aana Is Des Laado.”

Neha ventured into acting in 2010 with Vidhi Kasliwal’s film “Isi Life Mein…!” playing a college student. She also made her debut in Kannada and Telugu music, lending her voice to tracks for Sandeep Chowta.

The year 2013 marked the release of “Botal Khol” from “Prague” and a dance track, “Dhating Nach.” The following year, she collaborated with Yo Yo Honey Singh for “Manali Trance” and worked with Amit Trivedi on “London Thumakda.” Neha continued to shine in 2015 with songs like “Ek Do Teen Chaar” and “Tukur Tukur.”
