Career
In 2005, Monica Dogra co-founded the electronic rock group “Shaa’ir+Func” with guitarist Randolph Correia. They released their first album, “New Day: The Love Album,” in 2007, followed by “Light Tribe” in 2008 and “Mantis” in 2010.
She made her acting debut with a guest appearance in the film “Rock On!!” Following this, she appeared in Kiran Rao’s directorial debut “Dhobi Ghat” in 2011, portraying the role of Shai.
In December 2011, Dogra served as a judge for Rolling Stone’s Never Hide Sounds musical talent contest. She also hosted the musical collaborative show “The Dewarists” on STAR World India.
Dogra’s diverse career also includes musical performances such as singing “Dooriyan Bhi Hai Zaroori” with Vishal Dadlani in the film “Break Ke Baad” and the theme song in English (with Shahid Mallya) for the film “Inkaar.” She has collaborated with artists like award-winning violinist Scott Tixier for shows sponsored by Dos Equis around the US.
In March 2013 and May 2015, Dogra was featured on the cover and had a pictorial in Maxim India Magazine. She also graced the cover of FHM Magazine in March 2014.
Dogra is currently one of the judges for the show “The Stage” alongside Vishal Dadlani. Her recent work includes appearing in the web series “The Married Woman,” directed by Sahir Raza, where she stars alongside Ridhi Dogra.
In terms of filmography, Dogra has appeared in various films, including “David” in 2013, “Fireflies” in 2014, “The Spectacular Jihad of Taz Rahim” in 2015, and “Teraa Surroor” in 2016. She also made appearances as herself in the short film “Relapse” and in the Netflix production “What Are the Odds” in 2020.
