Career

Mahmood Junior began his Bollywood journey in 1967 with the film ‘Naunihal,’ where he portrayed the character ‘Biloo.’ He continued to make his mark in the industry, appearing in ‘Suhaag Raat’ in 1968 as ‘Banne’ and in ‘Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani’ in 1970 as ‘Gopi.’

In 1986, he starred in ‘Sasti Dulhan Mahenga Dulha’ as ‘Patel,’ showcasing his versatility. Mahmood Junior’s career spanned decades, and in 2002, he featured in ‘Chalo Ishq Ladaaye’ as a servant. He also ventured into regional cinema, contributing to Punjabi films like ‘Maa Da Laadla’ (1973) and ‘Teri Meri Ik Jindri’ (1975), as well as Assam’s first color film ‘Bhaiti’ (1975).

Aside from acting, Mahmood Junior delved into filmmaking, directing and producing several Marathi films like ‘Maskari,’ ‘Pagalpan,’ ‘Karmyog,’ ‘Tulas Aali Ghara,’ ‘Adla Badli,’ and ‘Ardha Gangu Ardha Gondya.’

He transitioned to television in 2012, making his debut in ‘Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara’ as Shankar “Shanky” Chatterjee. Over the years, he appeared in series like ‘Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka’ (2016) and ‘Tenali Rama’ (2017), showcasing his talent across different genres.

Sadly, Mahmood Junior passed away in Mumbai on 8 December 2023 after battling stomach cancer. His contributions to both cinema and television left a lasting legacy in the industry.
