Career

Lisa Kudrow began her career as a comedian, becoming a member of the improv and sketch comedy school The Groundlings with the help of her brother’s close friend, the popular comedian Jon Lovitz. She later joined a comedy group called Unexpected Company alongside her then-boyfriend Conan O’Brien and director Tim Hillman.

Her first on-screen appearance was in an episode of the sitcom TV series Cheers. Following that, she appeared in three episodes of the sitcom series Bob and was also part of the popular series Newhart. Kudrow’s first notable television role was portraying Ursula Buffay in the sitcom series Mad About You. She continued this character in the widely popular television series Friends, where she played Phoebe Buffay, Ursula’s twin sister. Friends was a huge success, earning Kudrow significant recognition and numerous awards throughout its run.

In addition to Friends, Kudrow starred in several popular comedic and dramatic films, including Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, Analyze This, Wonderland, and The Opposite of Sex. She made guest appearances on various television shows such as The Simpsons, Hope and Gloria, King of the Hill, Cougar Town, Scandal, and Angie Tribeca.

From 2004 to 2005, Kudrow worked as a creator, writer, and executive producer for the HBO series The Comeback. She also owns a production company named Is or Isn’t Entertainment and served as an executive producer for the television series Who Do You Think You Are?. In 2011, she co-created a comedic web series titled Web Therapy. Kudrow has also appeared in films like Easy A, Hotel for Dogs, Happy Endings, Neighbors, and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. She featured in the thriller movie The Girl on the Train and in Netflix’s comedy series Space Force.

Currently, Kudrow works as an executive producer for the syndicated game show 25 Words or Less. Throughout her career, she has appeared in over 100 movies and television series in the American film and television industry.
