Gidwani embarked on her television career in 1984, making her debut in the TV soap “Trishna.” Throughout the 1980s and ’90s, she delivered notable performances in serials such as “Swabhimaan,” “Air Hostess,” and “Junoon,” where her on-screen kiss with actor Tom Alter garnered attention. By 1997, she was simultaneously appearing in four serials, including “Swabhimaan” and “Junoon.”

In 1997, Gidwani portrayed Pallavi, a Hindustani classical singer, in “Dance of the Wind,” winning the Best Actress Award at the Three Continents Festival in Nantes, France. She also portrayed Lajma in Pankaj Butalia’s “Shadows in the Dark.”

Transitioning to the big screen, she appeared in films like “Fashion,” “Dhobi Ghat,” and “Student of the Year” during the 2010s. Additionally, she endorsed Wills Sport Lifestyle brand of clothing in collaboration with Wills Lifestyle in 2001. Gidwani ventured into theater, starring in plays like “Your Place or Mine” in 2006 and “Sock ’em With Honey,” where she played a traditional Parsi woman from Pakistan.
