Early Life

Kartik Tiwari, later known as Kartik Aaryan, was born on 22 November 1990 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Both his parents, Dr. Manish Tiwari and Dr. Mala Tiwari, are doctors. Aaryan attended St. Paul’s School in Gwalior for his schooling. He later pursued an engineering degree in biotechnology from D. Y. Patil College of Engineering, Navi Mumbai. However, he harbored secret ambitions of becoming a film actor.

While in university, Aaryan began his career as a model. Despite three years of unsuccessful auditions for films, he continued to pursue his passion for acting. Eventually, he decided to enroll in an acting course at the Kreating Charakters institute. It was only after signing his first film that he revealed his acting aspirations to his parents. Despite his burgeoning acting career, he completed his engineering degree at his mother’s insistence.

Career

Kartik Tiwari, later known as Kartik Aaryan, made his acting debut in 2011 with the film Pyaar Ka Punchnama. In 2013, Aaryan appeared in Akaash Vani, another collaboration with director Luv Ranjan and actress Nushrat Bharucha.

Continuing his collaboration with Luv Ranjan, Aaryan starred in Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 in 2015. The following year, he appeared in Tanuja Chandra’s short film Silvat, exploring a unique love story. However, his next project, Guest iin London, received negative reviews and failed to make an impact at the box office.

Kartik Aaryan’s breakthrough came in 2018 with the film Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, directed by Luv Ranjan. He starred in Luka Chuppi (2019) with Kriti Sanon and in “Pati Patni Aur Woh” with Bhumi Pednekar, Ananya Panday, Aparshakti Khurana and Sunny Singh.

In 2020, Aaryan starred in Love Aaj Kal, directed by Imtiaz Ali. He portrayed dual roles of young men in different time periods, opposite Arushi Sharma and Sara Ali Khan.

In 2021, Aaryan was cast in the comedy sequel Dostana 2 but was later replaced due to creative differences. He then starred in the thriller Dhamaka, directed by Ram Madhvani.

In 2022, Kartik Aaryan starred as Rooh Baba, a fraudulent psychic, in the horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 directed by Anees Bazmee with Kiara Advani, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Sanjay Mishra, Angad Bedi and Ameesha Patel.

In 2023, Aaryan starred in Shehzada, a remake of the Telugu action film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020). He then appeared in Satyaprem Ki Katha, a romantic drama alongside Kiara Advani.
