Career
Devaiah began his acting journey in 2010 with a role in Anurag Kashyap’s “That Girl in Yellow Boots,” where he portrayed Chitiappa alongside Kalki Koechlin and Naseeruddin Shah. The film gained recognition at international festivals like the Toronto International Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival.
In 2011, he appeared in Rohan Sippy’s “Dum Maaro Dum” as Ricky, a crime thriller featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, and Prateik Babbar. The same year, Devaiah impressed audiences and critics alike in Bejoy Nambiar’s “Shaitan” as Karan Chaudhary “KC,” earning nominations for several awards.
In 2012, Devaiah stepped into a lead role in Vivek Agnihotri’s “Hate Story” as Siddharth Dhanrajgir, marking his portrayal of an antagonistic character. Continuing his streak, Devaiah appeared in Vasan Bala’s “Peddlers” in 2012, showcased at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2013, he featured in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Ram-Leela” as Bhavani, contributing to the film’s blockbuster success.
Taking a brief hiatus, Devaiah returned in 2015 with “Hunterrr,” an adult comedy film directed by Harshavardan Kulkarni, where he portrayed Mandar Ponkshe, a sex-addicted man. The film performed well at the box office.
In 2016, Devaiah played an NRI role in Vivek Agnihotri’s “Junooniyat.” The following year, he showcased his versatility by playing twin brothers Karate Mani and Jimmy in “Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota,” earning him a Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Devaiah’s repertoire expanded in 2017 with roles in “Cabaret,” “A Death in the Gunj,” and “CandyFlip.” He also appeared as Buraq Ansari in the action film “Commando 3.” In 2020, Devaiah ventured into the digital realm with appearances in Amazon Prime’s drama series “Afsos” and the Netflix original film “Ghost Stories.”
